When virtual support may be useful

Online support can be suitable before birth, when you want to review a feeding plan, or when the questions you have can be explored safely without an in-person assessment.

  • Antenatal questions and early feeding preparation
  • Positioning and attachment guidance using the camera where helpful
  • Milk-supply concerns and review of the wider feeding picture
  • Expressing, pumping, bottle feeding and combination feeding
  • Returning to work, weaning or adapting an existing plan

What happens during the consultation

We begin with your story, your baby and what you would like to feel clearer about. I may ask you to describe recent feeds and relevant health or weight information.

Where helpful and with your consent, you can position your camera so I can observe a feed. We will discuss practical options and agree a plan that fits your circumstances.

When an in-person or medical assessment may be needed

A video consultation cannot provide a physical examination or diagnose a medical condition. If the information available suggests that a home visit, weight assessment, medical review or other specialist input would be more appropriate, I will explain this clearly.

Before the call

You will receive the Microsoft Teams details with your booking. If possible, choose a comfortable place where you normally feed and have any feeding or expressing equipment you would like to discuss nearby.

Frequently asked
questions.

Do I need a Microsoft Teams account?

You can normally join through the link in your booking information. The joining options available will depend on your device and Microsoft Teams settings.

Can you assess attachment online?

A camera can sometimes provide useful information about positioning and attachment, but it is not the same as an in-person assessment. I will be clear about the limits of what can be assessed virtually.

Can my partner join from another location?

Yes, provided the meeting link and joining arrangements allow it. Please do not forward private health information or meeting details more widely than necessary.

Is there a lower-priced virtual follow-up?

A 45-minute virtual follow-up at £40 is available to existing clients through a private booking link.
